Ganja is also an important part of Jamaican economic life. Poor people survive by it either as consumers or in combination with small-scale buying and selling to each other. There are drug lords, but they are not known by the people and most of them probably live abroad. For the people in general, the ban against marijuana is yet another suppressive measure from the authorities and from the United States. Most people see more beneficial than harmful aspects of the holy weed and don’t let themselves be stopped or controlled by such alien oppressors.
