AN ATTEMPT TO DEFINE REGGAE MUSIC
OK, it’s the timing. It’s the ridim. The drums, or the way the drums are used. Drum & base is the bottom of it. But then you can also take away all of the drum & base and it is still reggae. – There is no fiction in reggae. No mystery. No secret. No way to copy it. It can only be made for real. – The music it what keeps us together in Jamaica, it’s our one common good. – Some anthropological studies have found that there is a correlation between the use of rhythmical drums, so-called ”African drums”, and the basic brain waves that can cause changes in the central nervous system from mild euphoria to epileptic seizures.
