BELOW -- Not Quite the Same, but.... Quite Qute?
REGGAE
PART 9Or rather, the disco nights starts early in the morning when Perry’s wife Ruth takes up a goat from the freezer. The head is going into a soup while the rest of the animal is being turned into Curry Goat, all to be sold at the disco. Down at the ground floor where the sound system is stored, there is trouble. An amplifier doesn’t work. No necessary parts are available anywhere, due to the import restrictions. Someone starts to solder some loose ends together and after a while it works.
SOUND
Lloyd Parkes and We the People: The feeling is right. On a Disco-45 also
featuring U-Brown, Studio One, 70's (next page).
Lloyd Parkes is really a bass player, but he has doubled as a
backup-singer occasionally turning into a solo singer. This sound, certainly
from the early or mid-70's, is about as typical a dance sound as you can
get.
